Author Topic: 1.0 crashes at times. is 1.1 better, or do i blame the characters?  (Read 846 times)

it's only crashed twice, but if this becomes a repetitive thing, i'd like to avoid it. I mean, it ain't as bad as winmugen was, but still. anyway, here's the (short) stories on the two crashes.

first time, I was loading a match between shinryoga's super Mario, and some girl from strider called sheena. match hadn't started yet, and it locked up. I've since tried both characters separately with no problem, and recently removed sheena.

second time was more recent. just picked my character in training mode, and before I can even start picking my punching bag, lockup again.

haven't tried again yet. thought i'd post here and see if mugen 1.1 was worth my time. of course, i'd have to find a good screenpack, since I am NOT gonna customize the select.def manually. not for THIS many characters.

and  can someone direct me to a good guide for adding stages? I don't want to add them on a by character basis, I just want them to be randomly selected.

You need to put it into better perspective. It locked up 2 times on the first day you got Mugen 1.0 or is it 2 times out of 1000 matches? My advice is if you can run Mugen 1.1 in OpenGL mode then you should be using it instead, simply because it gives you the most options. Also stages are selected randomly during arcade mode as long as you don't assign a stage to a specific character.

not sure if I can run things in openGL, but I might give it a shot. now I just need to figure out how to modify the character select screen...

and yeah, maybe not 1000 matches, but I get your point. nothing's perfect anyway. I was just hoping for a more stable experience, but like I said, it's nowhere NEAR as bad as winmugen was.

1.0 and 1.1 are good each one, but they are different aspects.

Mugen 1.1, if you don't use OpenGL, is lighter than Mugen 1.0, because consumes less resources to run. But if you use OpenGL and stages with 24bit content, the resource consumption can sky rocket. 2D games can be heavier than 3D games in many aspects.

if all I get is access to higher resolution stages, I think i'll just run it without open gl. thing is, are there any screenpacks that use 1.1 that have high CSS counts?i've got around 300 or more at a guess. guess I just need to take a look around.
