How many admittedly gay friends do you have?

This is a hot topic in the US at this time. Any hate in this tread will lead to instant lifetime ban so don't even think about it. I don't want to hear any arguments for or against gay marriage at all. Your post will be removed if it is.

I just want to know, how far does this reach, how many of your friends are directly affect by the issues being discused by the US Supreme Court at this time. If you yourself are gay please include that in your count as well.

I'm gay myself but actually have few gay friends. Why does their sexuality matter? It's not a defining trait and it annoys me when people act like it is.

Such as "This is Tom. He's gay." I mean is it really necessary to bring it up as such. I look forward to the day it's viewed as equal so there won't have to be this constant label. Some gay people make this worse and encourage positive discrimination which greatly irritates me.

I know here in the UK we seem to be much more accepting than the US, which I greatly appreciate. I do have one gay friend who just got engaged as we passed the bill on 5th February. At the end of the day love between adults is love, no matter the gender. It's time it was viewed as such.

well for me its 4.. 3 women  and one guy.
the one guy is a co worker and keeps us laughing during our breaks. very cool guy.  the others are 1 long time female friend who has always been gay but she is a fem, one is my ex girlfriend who is bisexual and we still talk on phone after 10 years and hanged out from time to time and a good friend still and the other is another female who i have known since childhood and she bisexual as well for a long time now.

I think interent friends count. If you really are friends. (e.g. If someone asked how many friends do you have whose name start with "V" I would certainly count Vitor, although we never met outside of the internet.)

I think I'm pushing 14 gay actual friends(and I love them all) but I couldn't count how many I know and the coolest things about it is it doesn't matter where we go or who I'm with, be it girl or guy, straight women flock to them and I and my other straight friends love that because he have to do almost no work =).


None of them(except my aunt) really talking about the issue's at hand because they say it doesn't bother them but deep down I think it does because I know two of the girls have been together for a long time and want to get married and it bother me that they can't(not everywhere) so I know it has to bothers them a lot.

I'm gay myself, so I know a lot. Probably at least 100 as friends or familiars. I don't think it has to do so much with where I live, rather than I know the few areas and cities where we feel safe enough to be our complete selves.  I came out at 16, 16 years ago and I didn't really know anybody except for online.  It doesn't seem like that long ago, but it was definitely different then. But as time goes by and society is more familiar, people feel safer about being honest and open, so you'll see more and more soon.  My city and state aren't the best, but we're solid and prominent enough.  We're no San Francisco or NYC tho.

Anybody saying they have none: you likely do, but they haven't told you yet (maybe haven't come out to themselves yet).  Of course, one can only go off the information they have been given.

Anyways, I answered over 25, because most everybody I know is LGBT.  This stems from me being a transwoman and a lesbian and, through a desire to interact with my own community, sought out situations where I would meet other LGBT people.  Sometimes who you know is heavily based on who you are, and for me, it's simply gravitating towards those who fit a specific range of identity.
