Charles death is not so much an issue, as Ive been through this a couple times before.

My bigger issue is the character assasination of Cyclops.

The X-Men are supposed to forgive him? Let alone the fans?

Marvel really worked hard to make people dislike the X-Men in this series. Such a shame.

It doesn't really matter, as long as he's Phoenix Cyclops nothing matters. He can't be held accountable as if it was just normal Cyclops doing it.

by giving them not so desirable stories like this which make people un interested and confused as to why they would do something like this.

(like the way they made alan scott gay in 52 dc -_-) not that there is anything wrong with it just kind of messes up some stuff

I respectfully disagree. Scott was already highly unlikeable IMO.

He already was going mad-magneto prior to this, and the Seperation from Wolverine, and his School (which I luv the title "Wolverine, and the X-Men BTW)

But to me the kicker is that Scott went into this completely willingly before the Phoenix had any say, so Scott to me in some form seems 100% responsible for this. He's been through it before, and he knew, and Cap, Logan, and Charles all warned him, and like a young Magneto he arrogantly brushed them all off.

I know just in the 1st issue, I thought he was 100% d*** head, and from that point I rooted for the avengers. When Namor finally got his azz kicked I was genuinely happy about it.

Yeah.. you'd think that Cyclops (hell most of the X-Men who got this power) would know the damn risks. Scott kept losing his wife to this thing. They know the power and the problems that come with it, yet decided to go this route anyway. And now they're turning into royal bastards.

Ironically, from what I've seen and read, the least bastardy of the group has been Namor of all people. And he's basically MEANT to be ONE, that's been his whole characterization since before World War 2 XD

Well since this is not the Ultimate Universe i already know Charles is coming back. It is never permanent in main stream. Even if it takes years, they will come back (Example being Kraven).

My guess he'll return before the next First Class film. Marvel likes for there to be character to follow in the comics should the movie inspire someone to go out and buy a book. I disagree wiith acey to that they needed to get rid of him.

While chuck doesn't fit in with the Utopia X-men I think he would've worked great if he took a smaller role as headmaster in wolverine and the X-men. Chuck is always good with young mutants and his couple of appearences in that book were nicely written. This book is more for alternative comic readers who are tired of the more mainstream stuff. I think charlie would've been great in it.

Its the one marvel book I anxiously await every month. The new Helfire Club is so cool

I wouldn't say pheonix is whored out. Its just this storyline. It simply got split between x-men when the host it chose was protected. I am not one to buy into marketing garbage, an I think AVX has been done pretty respectfully without overdoing it.its a mini series you can read without buying all the crossovers

Sorry to get to the convo late, I skimmed through a lot of it and I'm sorry to say I haven't followed the AvX story as close as I should so I might be inaccuate about some things so please don't jump on me if I am. I just found this topic very interesting.

Most recent posts there has been talk about Pheonix being split, though not in the comics it's not the first time, if I remember right. In the toon Wolverine and the X-Men, the coo-coos were briefly but, seperately possesed by the phoenix force so, not canon but still an interesting point that I thought could relate to the idea of multiple hosts. An Idea which I kind of found interesting, though not thrilled by who was chosen, Cyclops and Colossus were they most appealing to me, I know Namor has been "with the X-Men" for a while but, to me, if they include him it is almost like going outside of the X-Men and could have included any other character. Though, don't get me wrong I have liked Namor for a long time, he just doesn't fit in the X-Men for me.

I actually kind of was digging Cyclops going in the direction he was going in, I mean it showed growth and frustration as a character. How many times do you have to go out and save the world before you can be looked at as something other than a second class or disregaurded citizen and just as good as any other hero. I loved that it was kind of gradual too, he took over the school then got hit by M Day, then was regulated by the government and that presure escalated in the Civil War and, then he just said F**k it and moved west started out building a sanctuary but ended up breaking off with his own country/nation. In doing so he created his own black ops team and made a couple of dark desisions. Leaders are faced with tough desicions and at this point he wasn't just the leader of the X-Men but a nation. Now he has like ultimate power and unfortunately he went real dark but, if you ask me he could have went really dark or just really crazy and tried to ressurect Jean right away and undid M Day stuff. I mean how much can one guy tollerate in his life, have that kind of power dangled in front of him and not snap in some way.

Lastly, yeah, what is this like the fifth time Xavier has died? Even though it seems a reaccurring thing about every ten-twenty years or so, He'll definately be back!
