Internet Blacklist.
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:50:11 PM »
COICA

In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced last week, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday.

If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.

Please see the following article from the Huffington Post for more information.

I'm guessing free speech doesn't apply to the internet.?

I wonder what sites they'll remove? I'm guessing everthing that doesn't earn the government a check.

Well i definetly signed it.  Now lets say this bill passes, exactly what content does it get to blacklist?  Sites that use copy written images, material, logos , characters , company sponsered related merchandise and other works. i mean i am an advocate of freedom of speech. but the lando really wants an underlined score of what exactly are they trying to blackball. Good Lord i hope it isnt mugen cause then i am gonna have to put on the boxing gloves!

k after further reading of the post i do see quite a bit where they are ' trying " to aim. but thats still not a complete fullness of whats to be let in and whats to be X ed out. So it leads me to wonder if my mugen community will be affected.

Inevitably. If this thing passes anyway. If they pass this law, they're talking about wiping out most of the internet.

Oh and that means the end of IMT.
