Dammit, I was doing so well with quitting MMOs...
I might have to get this.

I was looking forward to this game... it was one of the Main reasons i even got a PS3 last month.
But this pay to play thing... has stepped me away from it a lot.
The game looks and sounds great!.... but that pay to play on a PS3! just sounds dumb!

I know people will say," but with pay to play you know you will get better this and better that, and if it's not pay to play you won't get any of that"...

well i only have one answer for that... Guild Wars.
It can be done.
The sad this is, when it's all said and done i still might get the game. LOL

Yea I suspect alot of the nay sayers will fold once they see the game sitting on the shelf - As for the powers i'm hopeing that in future updates they will let you shapeshift into a Giant - After all they do have Giganta in the "Who do you trust" trailer @-)

:D

Seriously, has there ever been a console game where you pay a monthly fee?  :(|)

Other than that, this game looks pretty cool.
2 games actually.

Final Fantasy XI and EverQuest Online Adventures.

Both were on the ps2.

I like the way the game is looking. Though I'm on the fence about buying this. It would be messed up to pay 60 bucks plus the pay for play.

I just hope I get the beta (I signed up a few weeks ago) and it impresses me enough to get it.

This game will do good on the pc but i have this feeling that us ps3 owners will get the shaft and hear some lame excuse that this game wasn't up to there standards blah-blah then bam indefinite hold or it will be pushed back on the ps3 and it will never see the light of day so after watching some of these trailers i really can say eh on this game
im fat baby! and aint nothin wrong with a lil extra weight cuz we STILL get the job done!!

It's an MMO, so if it does go on console there will probably still be fees with it. They really don't do this kind of thing for free- hence why I doubt I'll play it =/

I apologize for the necro-bump, but a big update has been made concerning DC Universe Online, courtesy of GameSpot.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/dcuniverseonline/video/6284895

If that doesn't take the cake, DC Universe Online Beta will be included with PlayStation Plus membership.

Been playing the Beta for about 3 weeks & it completely rocks! Especially if your a Fighting game/Beat'em up fan. It even has a combo meter that pops up ala, Marvel vs Capcom to show your comboing madness. I've been up to a 80 hit combo before fighting a group of enemies & I never onced glanced at my powers tray (awesome). Where in most MMO's that's all you do is watch the power tray & meters (boring). Travel powers are completly awesome. With superspeed if you hit a curb or piece of rubble that arcs up & you hit jump at the same time you'll go sailing into the skies. (Tip : this helps out alot it race challenges to get a platinum medal). The cities are so huge that you can spend an hour running around & not even get close to seeing it all & best of all there are no borders to stop you. To travel between Metropolis & Gotham city you can warp to the JLA Watchtower which again is so huge you will get lost the first couple of times you visit it. There are Easter eggs littered all over the city. I've even spotted Batman chilling on top of a building then he swooped away. Or you'll see a group of thugs trying to purse snatch a lady & you can swoop down & save the day then get back on your mission that Superman gave you. Some old school MMO'ers can't seem to wrap there head around the fighting game/beat'em up game play but, for a fighting game fan like me i'm right at home - I'll post some pics tommarow night of me playing @-)

OK,
It took me about 6 hours to download the beta to my PS3.
And I've been playing it for about 4 hours now... just turned it off.
It's a good game... very fun, Made one villain and one hero. I played the hero the most so far.
there some somethings wrong with it, but it's a beta.
I'll play more of the villain side tomarrow.

Got the beta via IGN and it sure is fun. When it runs right, the motion and fighting is unmatched. Full of comboing, special attacks and customization. Made 2 heroes and a villain. Batman is my favorite mentor.

Is this more of an open or closed beta? Like.. I'm still gonna pre-order it but like does anyone know if I can save my beta stats to when the game actually comes out... I can keep playing at my current lvl or do I have to start over?

I really hope it's only pay to play for like a year or 2 then we play for free b/c I honestly doubt they'll keep up with this game for years.. upon years.. upon years.. I know Blizzard does it but... ALL their games are that style.. >.<

Can't wait to get to 10. Iconic powers seem very good, and I've been saving my points.
