Title: A Question Reguarding Organization
Post by: HomeSchooledHero on June 20, 2017, 10:03:37 AM
How do you guys stay organized?

I constantly want to create stuff for Mugen but I feel I hit a wall with organization.

I've got Mugen 1.0 with solid characters and stages...etc. I also have separate Mugens for testing new characters and stages...etc for Winmugen and Mugen 1.0.
Then I have one specifically for creating in Mugen 1.0 with Fighter Factory 3 and GIMP...etc. I have project folders with PNG and PCX...etc mixed together.  And still I feel unorganized.

I know many of you are creating much more extensive projects than me, and have multiple WIPs. It just boggles my mind how you guys don't get fatigued and just delete everything.

You should get rid of that fourth MUGEN, because like you said, you already have WinMUGEN and MUGEN 1.0 for testing.
Just use the MUGEN 1.0, that you use for testing, with FF3.

You should have only two MUGEN 1.0's then. One that's solid with characters, stages, and has a pretty boss screenpack.
Are your creations compatible with WinMUGEN, but compatible with MUGEN 1.0 too, or just made for MUGEN 1.0? If just made for MUGEN 1.0, then I would recommend getting rid of the WinMUGEN, unless you have it for the WinMUGEN only stages.

Have yourself a folder in My Documents or My Pictures for every character you create, so you can sort out the sprites better.
I usually put them with the folder in the MUGEN I'm using with FF3, until I'm done working on them, and then I move them back to My Pictures.
For stages, you don't really need a separate folder for each, since stages don't typically require a huge amount of sprites. ::salute::
