...but yeah iv been doing a few bits and bobs with sprites for a few years and im just really in need of a modern Storm in mugen. especially with the new Avengers vs. X-Men being released in a few days. so im going to slowly but surely (with a little help) make myself a modern Storm character. i was originally going to try the new X-Force Storm look, but i though id stick with her other modern look. (the one thats more like her MVC3 outfit). so yeah heres what i got so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar.

This looks fantastic, I'm sure that there are plenty of great creators who will help with whatever you need here, and keep it up, its a great feeling when a character is complete and the world gets to see your handwork, I am also still learning new things everyday from the guys here, and its nice to see a new take on a famous comic icon, cheers and don't hesitate to pm anyone here you think can help, you'd be surprised how many folks have helped me through the years

Very nice. My only suggestion for the stance is make her right leg move as well. Also have the yellow around her shoulders move with the arm.

My only issue would be that your Storm's cape isn't attached to the wristbands.
i know. im a huge storm fan and if i was amazingly talented and had a load of time on my hands....i would attempt it. but there are versions of her when its not attached. so im going for that look (this time) ;)

Are you using Storm as a base for spriting? If so, you're lucky, you just have to draw over her get hit sprites and replace the hair, right? Doesn't sound too bad.

Depending on the different attacks you sprite, compared to Capcom's 90's Storm, perhaps coding Storm over the Project X's current storm character would make coding quicker and easier. At least for the basic attacks, not sure what you have in mind for specials and hypers. :Pto do that you must contact alucard first, he gave permiss to use his storm, and even remove somes specials, but we cant add more stuffs to her.

Don't worry too much about coding now. Find a good coder who will really do it justice.
Maybe coding from scratch wouldn't be a bad idea? That way it'll feel more fresh and won't have remnants of the old character in there if that makes sense. But maybe use parts of an already coded Storm, like Kong's, to build yours.

i'll try and upload a video of them in the game. they dont look as stiff as they do in the GIFS when in gameplay. especially the light punch, trust me they look more fluid in action lol

well this punch has a large reach anyway because it involves lightning. so she doesnt need to be forward at all. good suggestion though :)

lol i have separated them into portions that i know i will use. i think in all the pallet's im intending to use, her legs and cape are always the same colour anyway so there's no need to separate them.
am i being too ambitions?? :P

I'd love to see a smart palette that allowed for her original costume. All you'd need to do is color shoulder/neck area a different color, which you would then turn into the color of her cape, so it will look like her cape covering it. And you could add a new color around the sides of her torso, which could be turned into a skin color.
I realize that's more work, but if you can pull that off, without taking away any of the sprite's current details, that would be awesome. :)

I just want to say i think all theses ideas that you guys are talking about are absolutely amazing, and i know as a storm fan that id want ALL the things that you guys are requesting AND MORE lol but to be honest, i dont get allot of time to sprite but when i do i get really into it. but even so, i think maybe iv set the bar for myself very high...too high lol i think im just going to stick with my original W.I.P of Storm but go back and just make the sprites look more detailed and cleaner, maybe adding more stages to each gif for better, fluid movements. but still encorperate a small smart pallette to allow things like her eyes & her chest symbol to change to look im going for. im really sorry if this disapoins you, but if im doing a character i LOVE i really want to do it well instead of getting sidetracked trying to overcomplicate a charcter thats already complex.^^(PM)^thankyou, KuRt.

-edited alot of her hair and made the crouch sprite much less stiff. the one before looked like she had a pole up her arse lol
-tryed making her shoulders move and her leg move in a more natural way but i just cant do it, so iv left them static which still looks cool.
-changed her hair and made it thicker and longer in the "walking forward" gif.
-made her cape, face, and hair look smoother and for the "turning sprite"

thanks guys! :) if i didnt like the character so much, id find it hard to motivate myself sometimes especially when it came down to the jump forward sprites, i just try im imagine that if someone was going to see each individual sprite, id want them to see the same quality in each one. instead of having the main ones the prettiest. sometimes the sprites that you only see for a split second are the ones that i spent the most time on lol

In my opinion, in her sprites of jump -> come down:
- her hair need more length (like other sprites have)
- her cloak and her hair necessary to move together all time
And it need to be in all sprites. Hair's length is constant, fabric and hair have almost the same weigh, structure and other features.
I think you could to do char with maximally realistic moves etc. ;)

i do like little guest appearances from characters that (most likely) wont be in mugen anytime soo. yes the wing effect is "bad" but it was litterally a quick mash up just to see what could be done. as for Pixie, she has a strong connection with Storm Just like the other characters i planned to involve. i wasnt going to do characters like Cannonball or Dazzler becuase they really dont see allot of relationship development in the comics so they wouldnt make sence. here are some examples of Storm and Pixie in Storm's Security Recon team:

for a day or two iv been working on some ideas for WIN poses and INTRO sprites. i was originally not going to include the Black Panther mainly because i just assumed that he was already in m.u.g.e.n. somewhere.......but after a little look around, it seems like he really doesn't exist lol

Geekinell, any sprites that come straight from other games (like Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter, etc.) is perfectly fine to use and edit as you please. Any sprites that were edited by someone else in the community are not allowed to be used unless you get permission from the editor of those sprites or if they're considered open source. Open source means they're free to use (usually only at the cost of giving original credit to whoever edited them to begin with). As stated, Verz was the editor of those sprites and one of the creators of the Cyclops you edited to make that Black Panthern anim. So, unfortunately, you can't use those sprites in your character unless Verz gives you the go ahead.

iv been doing some light work on smaller sprites to get myself back in the habit of Spriting again. and iv come to the conclusion of re-doing almost everything on this version of Storm to fit in with the Modern Marvel NOW! costume she current uses. its my favourite, and that will spur me on to make it perfect!
im currently setting up a stance/idle pose for her. and this is what i have so far:

The older version was missing allot of sprites, so I'll put her either on hold but I'm using some of my edits from that one to go with this one too. And I plan to complete this version. There's less hair to work through and I still need to figure out how I wan the cape to look, having the cape attached to her hands is hard but I will try.

i think it feels much calmer now, which is the effect i was going for. sometimes i put to many frames into an animation that only needs 2 or 3 haha

Nice animation. I have a few suggestions:
- Delay the hair and cape flow about 1 frame when compared to the arm movement. This is because hair and cape would take more time to initiate the movement since they are affected by air resistance;
- Boobs have a similar concept and require an additional bounce sprite. They move down at least 1 additional pixel because of their weight and the stretch of skin and spandex. My advice is to check for Spider Woman animations by Verz36/Diepod/Balthazar/z0x...
- There's a muscle line in the right boot that doesn't continue on the skin. Might be worth defining about 2-3 px of thigh muscle or just ditching the additional detail. Xfields' Catwoman has such lines mostly in the calves and while the thighs are kept as smooth as possible;
- The cape animation is choppy and could definitely use more sprites. There's one huge detail you must consider: if you don't match the number of sprites for the body and the cape, then your only option to improve cape motion is to double the cape sprites... (cape will move twice more fluidly while body moves only once);
- The color palette reminds me a lot of Z999 and Harbinger's earlier works. Not that it is bad. It is quite good, but could definitely be better. Have you considered checking PrimeOp's stuff? He has plenty of sprite edits that you could use as reference for shades (skin: G.I.Joe Roadblock, Black Panther, Storm herself, FF Eddie, Balrog, Astyanax Roche...; uniform: G.I.Joe Baroness, DMC Trish, Black Panther, Storm herself...)
- Something that I learned from Xfields and Camo: Elena SF3 is a great base for female heads, Charlie is a great base for male heads... given you want a not so clean slate, but still keep quite some freedom to edit. You will probably need a head sheet, so I felt a base tip would be nice in this long list;
- Floating characters can have a fixed torso/legs, but they feel more 'organic'(?) when there's some movement. Might want to check what Verz did for Doc Ock.

that cape is just a daily struggle. Using Storm's cape as a base is helpful but also problematic, i will see how things go. im not too worried about the palette that can be changed later, in my older version of Storm her skin was much lighter but now i want to keep it darker, she is after all from Africa (and not as light as Halle Berry)
i will also look into those heads you suggested, thank you. if you have any other cape bases you know of then please let me know, im currently trying to find separated Storm cape sprites but having no luck

Bases? Sure. I already had my share of nightmares with capes... so here's a quick list of underused 'capes':
* Lotus Master (Martial Masters)
* N'Dool, Death13, Jotaro (Jojo)
* Gatchaman (Tatsunoko PS1)
* Laurence Blood (Real Bout)
* Red Arremer (CvS)
* Grant (Garou)
And there's always the basic stuff... Gambit, Doc Doom, Magneto, Bison...
I find Grant and Red Arremer too fluid sometimes... Lotus Master and Jojo characters have a sort of MvC inertia, which makes them great choice (watch out for that black outline in Jojo though)... and Real Bout and Tatsunoko are just choppy... you need to draw the transitions for best movement.
Quite frankly, I don't think any of these will be a perfect base for Storm. Might want to try spriting the character without it for now. :/

I noticed some of you arnt happy with the pallette choice. The standard one im working on is the one i like and makes spriting easier for my eyes to see mistakes. BUT, dont forget other pallettes are possible so everyone can be happy, heres just a quick mock up of a few ideas i had while taking a break from spriting new frames (that are looking better than i expected) so enjoy if you can :)
