Title: Cable
Post by: Acey on September 10, 2010, 06:26:43 PM
Here is the final design for Cable. I created a color separation between the metal and his hair, also between the skin and the straps. I also made him able to have his left hand metalic or gloved. Then he also has the right sleve which can be the shirt color or skin colored. Finally, after removing half the chest strap I added it back in with smart palette.

The two main costume ideas are below, current and old school. Playing with the smart palette I'll be able to do some other interesting stuff too like a Liefield pallet.

This will be the sprite for his stance, I wanted to keep it with his arms in about the same place since Cable's animations are meticulously designed around the stance but I also wanted to get him standing straighter.

Edit:
Working on animating the stance too. I ended up changing the head as well. Here is the stance so far.

looks epic personally i think you should do all your pallettes in new school and make only a few of them old school. At the very least half and half.

=P~ I love the new look and I would REALLY REALY Love to see a Liefield palette. It would be great to have a Cable that can look like his first appearance. Will he have shoulder pads?  :-SS

Shoulder Pads, not as a whole but there will be pads in an intro or two.

I really like the new head. Reminds me more of how he looked in the 90's cartoon.

Yea the new slimmer looking head looks real nice and is reminiscent of the cartoon.  The Capcom sprites look like he put on 20 pounds and has a fat face.   :-j

I have some palette suggestions:
Darker blue than Capcom's link (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/77/204323-93649-cable.jpg)
Blue and brown link (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/10069/458800-cable_01.jpg)
Blue and silver (ultimate) link (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/5648/304310-145438-cable.jpg)
Blueish (classic) link (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/9690/226856-118285-cable.jpg)

Along with Capcom's and your new one (X-Force I assume), I think these six are perfect for Cable.

Still hamming away at these sprites, I like you palettes suggestions yosifun...

And if I ever decide to make He-Man I think I found a good base:

I still think you should fix it so that the metal arm is on the right side no matter which way you turn. But I know it'd be hard and all that and this is your project so I'll shut up

Making sure his metal hand does not fall victim to sprite flipping...man that requires a lot of work...

There's no need to anyway, almost nobody notices it...

I'm certaintly temped but I have this compulsion to work on chars and I don't want to get dragged down with such details. I can't do just 1 char per year, it's just not in me.

can you make he-man? i know i can't be the only one waiting for a capcom he-man. and judging by your past work he would be done right.

Heh, your just like me, I work on one char, then suddenly get bored of it and start making another char, then later on finish the older char along with the new one...

I would love to do He-man, but first I'd have to finish the work on SnakeEyes version 2 (which is still being worked on once and a while.)

IMO, it would look better if the brown and blue were a bit lighter, like in the pic (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/10069/458800-cable_01.jpg)
I hope you will also use my other suggestions, this one (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/77/204323-93649-cable.jpg) is my favorite.
