Title: SpRiTe Of ThE wEeK cOnTeSt #45 Voting
Post by: DARKTALBAIN on April 03, 2010, 04:08:24 AM
It may be time to end this for awhile since it seems that too many people are preoccupied with other things. I think the sprite contest is more of a Fall/Winter thing

Remember the rules & do not dog any of the hard work from anyone! Please refrain from mentioning who you think made the sprites as well. Thanks!

So without further ado , let's check out everyone's work

Sprite #1 : Balanced Dhalsim

Sprite #2 : Colossal Red

Sprite # 3 Zulkright

Let the voting commence . You have until Sunday night to vote. Good Luck to all the contestants.

Honestly I think this weeks lack of entries was due to the theme. No offense. Just not a very inspiring theme. Promotes a lot of splicing and that's pretty boring. Give it one more shot with a more open-ended theme and see how that goes :)

Dang, I missed the theme for this week darn it. This would have been the one week I would have actually been able to make something too. I got like ten really good ideas as soon as I read it. Oh well, I'll still do them just for fun sometime I guess.

I think it`s difficult to edit something in one week to participate in this contests people have to edit on week days and at least for me is difficult I usually edit on sundays.

It was impossible for me to join.  I had two test in math and biology and two papers due for literature and sociollogy this week. But I can join the next one for sure.

But back on topic, I'm digging the Balanced Dhalsim.  The effects on him are nice.

Late entry added!!!

I don't know. I have been running this comp for over a year now. last year it seemed like spring/summer rolled around & the entries just slowed down, I even changed it to " sprite of the month " for the summer. So everyone had a whole month to work on their entries & it didn't seem to go over still. I know during the early summer, I don't do much spriting.

Honestly I think this weeks lack of entries was due to the theme. No offense. Just not a very inspiring theme. Promotes a lot of splicing and that's pretty boring. Give it one more shot with a more open-ended theme and see how that goes :)

Not every theme can be as stellar as the last. I try to pick different ones to mix it up. If I don't get new themes in here, I hear people complain that wealready did that. What everyone doesn't  undertand is when I did say.... " movie maniacs " last year. There was a whole different line up of contestants. I think people would like to see all of your interpetations of say that theme. Maybe I'm wrong.

Start working on your sprites for next week's comp. It's FREE FOR ALL week. meaning you can make whatever you want & turn it in. As long as you sprited it. Just make sure you tell me who or what it is. Also it can not have been displayed anywhere before

^^(PM)^ I agree, this is why I've never entered. The weekend is the only time I can sprite and by then the deadline is passed.

Perhaps we should go back to a monthly contest if people are having a hard time making something in a week.

I couldnt think of anything good for this one.

I would agree... That's mostly why I didn't enter (plus I couldn't think of much to enter that would get enough votes... lol....). Give it one more shot, DT, after this one. :)

I'm not faulting you for the theme, nor am I saying it's a bad one. It's just not very inspired. What I am saying is don't give up on the competitions just yet.

I'm gonna try to enter next week. I've just not been in a creative state of mind lately (nor a productive one, for that matter). But I'll see if I can cook something up. I haven't been here long, but these competitions are definitely my favorite part of the forum. :)

I think The days of send sprites and voting should be moved.
example, from Thursday to monday at midnight to send entries.
and  from tuesday to midnight wednesday for voting.
Then people should have better days to sprite.  :-??

 ^^(PM)^
i agree with this, that way ppl can sprite during the weekends, making the spriting process easier to achieve(as you're normally not that busy at that time)

Yes , I think after over a year, the comp will be in for a revamp. I always liked the voting on the weekends because it seemed like the most people were online to vote. But maybe the contest should be more about what is easiest on the spriters since they have to put the work in.  I'll be thinking this over
