While both are pretty much the same,i'd go for V1 as it looks a little more complete with that zoom in of his hands

I prefer number 1 more than number 2.

Number 2 has that blank edge on the left that just yells for something to fill it.

Some might perceive it that way, but the flow that I was creating was for the smudge to guide the viewer towards the render, smudge tags don't necessarily have to follow the flow of the render. You should rather look at the flow of the smudge rather than the render.
If I made the tag follow the flow of the render, it would just be one general flow making the tag empty.
