create ini to go with winmugen(winmugen.ini)
with in dj van makes mp3 work every time
is there any benefit to doing this over converting everything to ogg?
Yeah. Time.
plugin = looptype=1, plugins/in_mp3PRO.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = looptype=2, plugins/DJ-VAN.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
the file in the mugen folder(chars folder, stages, sound, tools, winmugen.exe, etc) and the code in the mugen.cfg section of pluginsso it doesn't matter if it's not in the plugins folder i just drop it into my mugen?

Thanks A lot Pal.the file in the mugen folder(chars folder, stages, sound, tools, winmugen.exe, etc) and the code in the mugen.cfg section of pluginsso it doesn't matter if it's not in the plugins folder i just drop it into my mugen?
Copy the code into Notepad, then save it as winmugen.ini. Put that file in your main MUGEN folder. You'll need DJ-VAN.dll in your plugins folder. Set that as the plugin you are using for MP3s in mugen.cfg, and set it to looptype=2. Hope that's clearer.
-Hmm, do you have any other plugins loading in mugen.cfg?yes i have the ogg plugin loaded and i only have u torrent running :-??
-Maybe try shutting down anything that might be running in the background on your comp. Could just be a memory issue...
Just guessing, really....
Check your plugin it may be corrupted, then defrag your computer and it should work better and increase your virtual memory if possible always good for mugen and it should work almost every time, then lets see how you have your plugins sorted in mugen.cfg are there spaces or not sometimes this can cause a issue and thanks I burner for all the extra helpit looks like this
What Os are you running and by turbo music you mean it runs faster I think some other setting you may have adjusted may be conflicting you should lower all the explods, helper max to minimum, and turn unload system data on, player cache on attempt to duplicate maximum performance and it should work perhaps your plugin is also edited and may work better than others and work too well with this ini so try that and tell me what happens if it dosent work Ill turn to loops down for you this may help instead of 6 Ill make it 4 or 3 but just let me know

For chaning plugins you just open your mugen.cfg and you look for your old one (probably the in_mad.dill or something else) and replace it with the name of your new plugin.
ok mine doesn't have the in_mad.dill, so how do i know which one to replace?
;List Winamp-compatible plugins here.
;Specify the filename of the plugin and the list of file types to
;use the plugin for. One plugin per line.
;Example: plugin = plugins/my_plugin.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
;
;If music is not looping with a particular plugin, you can try an
;optional first argument looptype=1 (seek to zero; may stutter)
;or looptype=2 (reload plugin; slow).
;Example: plugin = looptype=1, plugins/my_plugin.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
;plugin = plugins/in_mad.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg

I have SpiderMew's plugin, those plugins the guy with the rar. posted and the Ini (proper name).I run MUGEN on Vista and the mad_150b plugin that Spidermew kindly provided did solve my menu and select screen problem, but there was still one issue. If a character pauses the bg music (for example dan by p.o.t.s) it would start skipping until it is paused again and sometimes even cause MUGEN to crash.
So i searched for a way to fix this and found the Xillsoft Audio Converter.
Use the following settings to convert your mp3(or any other music file)
(http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/3448/14706306uh5.png) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/14706306uh5.png/1/w640.png) (http://g.imageshack.us/img184/14706306uh5.png/1/)
Since i did that all of my mp3's work perfectly and MUGEN didn't crash since then.
I assume that would work for XP aswell, but only if you additonally turn of the hardware acceleration.
Here's proof that it works.(notice the end of the video)

I'm just curious if anyone currently uses this in their setup or if it's the 'norm' now, and if it still works even with High-Res screenpacks, chars, or stages?
Hires has nothing to do with it
Actually, in my initial testing this fix caused the Hi-res Select-Only Hack to behave oddly and crash. This works just fine for any other version of mugen.
