Duo will be a Team made character and now is your chance to participate. There is a lot of spriting talent on the forum and thought after the success of The Batman Team wip, some great things could be accomplished if everyone works together again.  Out of all the Classic Megaman Hero's Duo is the only hero not made as of yet.  With the number of Robot Masters in this game Megaman could use another Hero to help him during the Mayhem.

Here is how it works:

Character: Duo
Style: Versus Series

Below is a list of Animation Sets that break up necessary portions of the characters into assignments. Spriters can sign up for one or multiple sets of animations at any time. Since you are able to announce your intention in this thread, there will be less chances of repeat work. Also included are "Open" and "Optional" categories. The Open category are the animations that can be completed multiple times. Special Moves are an example of items in the open category because there could be many creators working on different special moves. The Optional category includes animations that are not necessary for the character but creators can still sign up to completed these animations.

Rules/Suggestions:
1) Please announce your attentions to complete a set to help others avoid duplicate work.
2) If you sign up for a set, please try and complete in within one week of the date you announce your intentions.
3) All animations must use the color palette used in the prototype sprite seen below.
4) There is no one single base to use on this character. Possible character base suggestions include Megaman, Crashman, Metalman, and of course Duo's Power Fighter sprite sheet.  (Kong's Megaman is also open source.)
5) All animations need to match the current scale of the sprite seen below.
6) Do not use other Mugen Creator's sprites with out permission.

Here is my take.. his upper torso has not been re-sized and neither has MM's legs. He does not look too bad at all.

Looks good Ex.
I tried my hand at Duo, I kept the Upper body the same as Power Battle, used Manic's head and legs, then used one Megaman arm.
The longer upper legs like in the first post is more suiting.

Now this is who I have been waiting for for a long long time. He doesnt fight like traditional robots and he is strong as heck and since he can literally crush evil energy he could possibly stand up to Zero (he uses the evil energy in the form of a virus created by Wily which explains his immense strength). hope he retains his dashing shoulder spike hit.

This may help you guys out as a refresher. It seems Duo has a hyper Armor as well as you can see Megas bullets really dont look like they hurt Duo at all. So I think a good a idea for him is to have a seriously modified hyper armor that is not like the mvc2 one that requires a few more hits than normal plus but to balance that out you could make his moves slower to come out but not slowed down by hits like the original mvc2 armor. Plus that would add some originality to him because of his different armor.

sorry to double post but honest the legs on DUo arent skinny like all the other Megaman Characters. His is more broad. look at the vid in my post above and pay close attention to how proportioned his legs are. Not complaining about the design in the first post at all just thought I would let you guys know.

So, ideas for specials:

We got ground punch, which can easily be varied into a hyper.
Energy Form which would funtion very similar to Talbain's dash attacks.

Can't seem to find a decent game film of him from Power Fighters though.

he could have an attack similar to yang or fei long, only with the third punch being that ground slam.

he could have something kinda like juggernaut punch as well. maybe a few slams with that giant arm.

I think Rugal's move where he runs into you, grabs you and takes you to the edge of the stage and slams you on the wall, then there's an explosion.
I think that would be a great move for Duo.

Yea the shadows are a pain on those sprites, I just remove the shadows.  Otherwise you can always use Kongs rips that does not have it.

His ground pound move could also be turned into an anti-air. basically instead of punches the ground he punches the air to keep foes back. air dash tackle might be a good idea and him being able to turn into his ball form in air is a good idea (ala athena minus the kick at the end and of course the video I posted of Duo). Also it seems he is strong against projectiles as the buster shots and all other projectiles bounce off him because of his advanced armor. Duo also has a projectile in the shape of his fist as well an ability to copy moves just like Megaman and others. He could have a power charge like Captain America but with his hyper armor it could be unaffected but projectiles meaning zero slowdown but lag after the attack to make it so that anyone can counter attack him on block. ALso He could have a move where he purges eveil energy out of his opponent. Sort of like God Rugals Rugal Execution move( :6 :3 :2 :1 :4+ :bk from CVS2) except maybe you could have a white light air appear around the opponent while he is holding them in the air and then explosion happens and the opponent is blown to the other side of the screen.

I like the dash, good stuff!

I got a suggestion from Gate on the Scruffy board with his suggestion for Duo, this is open source.  I think this Duo is too big, but I do like how he made Duo's boots and it is very nicely detailed.  The main bases are arm and torso of Tron Bonne then enlarged Megaman parts.

This is MUCH closer in size. The torso could be a little less puffy, but next to MvC sized Rockman, this is the way you guys want to go.

When we were discussing duo's size in the past we tried to look at power battles and compare megaman and duo.  Then we wanted to make it so eveyone would be able to help out.  I think compared to mvc megaman we got the right height but maybe we could stretch him some to make him fatter in the future.  I do like our current design though.  I do agree this is a cool sprite and a nice suggestion that maybe we can get some ideas from.

His Rockman 8 sprites should me 1.65x to match the perfect height on MVC Rockman and all of the bosses from Rockman 8, also, if I was going to do those~ (Astroman pops in mind~) <3.

That looks just like him in the game. I like that one the best overall due to the accuracy of the sprite.

The shading on that seriously doesn't work. It's a valiant effort, and the scaling is perfect, but next to MvC... the shading is ugly. Maybe redraw over said rescaled sprites?

That's a cool edit, unfortunately it doesn't fit with the game though.  I would like to see how Astroman would look with the conversion.

In the future once Duo sprite sheet is completed I can always runthrough the sheet and change his legs and add some extra stuff and update sprites that might need touch up work.  I will also in the future start to add Duo's sprites to the project template once it is ready for some nice screen shots.   :thumbsup:

Thanks. I might actually try another edit or two of him since I got use to it already. I think the best thing about him is, he only really needs three punches/kicks (tossing his weight around?) for his basics as he wouldn't have a crouch or jump. Would also mostly eliminate his jump anims and a good amount of his get hits. Would definitely make the work load much much lighter but would be a little more difficult to work on then the more humanoid looking Robot Masters.

Well, obviously I was just using the Rockman 8 shading, light source upper right. I wasn't finished though. I realized I didn't finish his helmet and his arms and legs could use another shade of colour. The Power Fighters colours are fugly, too~!  8=| I might just do all of them anyway and ask Emiliano if I could spriteswap his Rockman 8 Duo, since I added the voices to his anyway and sent them to him. It's on his site  :P

Yes, since he have no legs, he would use his "sattelites" as kicks.

Good, other than the fact that the top of Gutsman's "undies" aren't really straight across in that pic like they should be.  But maybe I'm just mistaken.

Here Is the Sprite sheet I have been working on. I used PB Torso  for Duo top Half and MvC Mega-man part for the rest, I also have the Image cut for use in MUGEN.

To put up pictures, use the "Insert Image" icon. Once that's done, copy and paste the URL of your picture between the brackets.

I recommend to upload your sprite sheet on Imageshack, first.

What if Duo had a grab that grabs opponents that like to crouch a lot. And if possible a standing low grab (meaning if the opponent is standing and you do the grab you can still grab their legs. That would make Duo dangerous but to provide some challenge for he character he should have a difficult time getting in on some characters. Just an idea is all. No other character has something like that in this game.

There were a bunch of designs for Duo some time ago and out of those this is how we deiced to make him for the game.  The only thing I would like to see is that extra detail on his legs but that can always be done later as its a small detail.

As for Shadow Man I stopped working on him once I came across ShadowMan_CFAS in the Forums. So sad to say I won't be doing Shadowman, I want to spend more time working on Robots that players won't ever have a chance to play anywhere else. My newest plan is to end the argument on the Quint Wip by starting a Wip for Rockman Shadow and the evil Megaman with the scarf.

*UPDATE*

Yeah it has to do with the Act. All of the black lines disappeared when I put him into Fighter Factory. I have to go thru and edit them one by one.

I PM'ed Manic Duo Sprite sheet So hopefully he can begin sprite merging.

The evil megs is in the works or was. there hasnt been any news on this character in .......  :-??

On the R note. This character would prove ineligible for the game. All the representatives with the game must be form the MM, MMX, MMZ, MMZX, MML to be eligible. These games are all of the same time line. M&B2 is not considered canon so any character from such would be deemed ineligible. But if he was allowed i would love to see him. He does have some interesting attacks.

Just to set something strait. Rockman Shadow, would be more them eligible. On the one fact of Quint. If Rockman Shadow is not eligible, then neither should Quint..or any other character from the Gameboy Series for that matter, It is not canon. another thing I want to bring to attention is Quint is in fact Designed AFTER Rockman Shadows Design, Unless your reading the other translation where Rockman Shadow IS Quint after the events of Mega Man 2, and undergoing another upgrade. But I guess all I have to say it he is not made by Capcom...But tell me really that should that matter?

We got it, you're not doing R-Shadow, that doesn't mean no one else can.

Hell, Copy Rockman (the evil scarf Rock) isn't even in a game at all, but he's good for being in the game. According the the literal definition of the word "canon" in the case of Mega man, anything sanctioned by Capcom, be it direct or third party is considered Canon. That applies the Ruby-Spears cartoon, the Rockman X Megamix cards/mangas, and various other etc. They may not fit into the timelines of the Main universe, but that doesn't mean they're not eligible.

But back on the topic of Duo is anyone interested in Duo before he crashed landed. It could be some type of Paradox where he sense the Evil Energy from Quints time Portal and goes to earth to investigate.

You could just use the orginal form Duo sprites to make an intro for Duo. It would be more fitting that way I think... :thumbsup:

I was thinking about coming up with a sorry of how he comes back to earth because of quint time portal and maybe even having  him completely rebuilt as his former self. :-?? but im just a spriter and I should just stick with what I know.

Yeah I had to edit all the sprites because Fighter Factory doesn't like the color black, so Duo is drawn with a Dark grey which is annoying. I don't know if everyone want me to just finish doing all the sprites?  every set after 12 needs to be done. I'm having difficulty with the throwing sets. and I'm trying to convince myself not to give up on the Dr. light version and work on the original version.

I didn't mean for it to come out like that. The Color black disappears whens I test him in Fighter factory, take a look at the screen shot on the previous pages. I'm using MS Paint because it is the easiest for me to us.

It's too late now I did a cram session last night and I completely recolored the sprite sheet. The only ones I have left are the air punches and Kicks but I want to redo them so the are more animated.

I didn't make the Shield, Laspacho made the DUO Shield. He just said I could use it. He was probably in rush and didn't notice.

 ;*)) Funny you should say that. It's really a accident. Fighter Factory wasn't recognizing the color black I was using , So I had to change all the Sprites to a really dark grey. I remember you saying it could be done really easy in Photoshop...I us MSPaint, I don't have Photoshop. I was wondering if I sent you a Sprite Sheet if you could fix it up for me. [-O<

Thank you, I've been working on Duo all day in Fighter Factory, But for some reason it's still not recognizing the color black I'm using for Duo's outline. I think I have to make a better Pallet for him that all. I'm watching a few Tutorials on Youtube on how to make Pallets and maybe I can find out where I'm messing up.

If anyone has any Idea for Duo's Hyper moves now would be a good time to start posting what you got.

Photoshop CS5 now makes each frame in layer(I dunno if in CS4 it was same way or as it was before, only first frame) also you may use Ulead GIF Animator and just copy/paste frames. Hope that helped  %%-

Thanks Laspacho. I'm having Trouble with Duo's Act File. I have been watching tutorials on YouTube. But for some reason it keeps coming out wrong. Duo's outline become transparent. I don't know if it the ACT File or the Sprites, But it driving me crazy  ~X(

Duo is a Team WIP, that means that anyone that want's to add sprites is more then welcome to. ( even yourself) As for me Coding Duo...I could say I'm more or less applying the sprites to the RMM Template and not adding any original code (At the moment) I'm working on Duo to take some work off of Laspashos hands as he works on other Characters

Here is a Beta for RMM Duo. He is not yet completed. He still needs Specials and Hypers. This is my first time making a char for Mugen. I used the RMM Char Template by Acey, So all of his moves are currently Power Sets. I wanted everyone to get an Idea of how Duo is coming along and give everyone a chance to give some input.  Besides that everyone love a new face in there RMM Roster. Please Read the Read me file for the known bugs. Hope everyone enjoys the beta.

I would call it more of a sprite/soundswap of the template. I did something similier with my onomatopoiea Character, It's more so to test how the character looks in game then anything.

Speaking of Sounds I'm looking for Sound Rips for Duo. like you said it is more to test how the Character will look in the game. Since it's a team W.I.P I don't see any reasons why you guys can't work on him to. I'm really getting Frazzled and I want to see what everyone come up with. I feel like I'm hogging all the work for Duo from the rest of the Forums.

I couldn't find those Sprites anywhere. I have been looking everywhere them. As for the Saw Blade they where in the RMM Template.
If you want to help with the Pallet I would greatly appreciate it.

Haven't made an edit of something for MUGEN for a little while, so I decided, why not. All I did really was edit some time issues that made some of the animations a bit slow, like the stance, etc. Otherwise, not bad so far for Duo. :thumbsup:

I will check the Act file today in Fighter Factory.
I'll try to upload the updated Act file sometime tonight.
As for the Heavy Aerial Punch, I don't know what wrong with it.
I think it has do with Duo Coding it keeps using the Heavy Ground Punch in the air instead of the Heavy Aerial Punch.
I can't fix it now, but I will look into it and see what I can find.
I wish someone that knew how to code could take a look at it.
There are also some bugs with the Hadoken Power Set and the Leaf Shield throw Power Set,
But again it's in the coding and I don't want to mess it up trying to fix it. -/o

Still can't fix the Heavy Aerial Punch It has it's own animation but it keeps using the on for the heavy Ground punch :-??

I Forgot that I added Duo's Hand Projectile sprite and and Removed Rush from the back ground. ( He can still be called in to run across the screen)Most of the bugs in the first Version have been fixed

Forgot to Fix duo Jump Medium Punch.  In Statedef 610 change anim = 220 to anim = 610.
(It will be fixed in the next release. I just notice that I didn't save the change before I uploaded Duo Ver. 0.3) :)

As some of might have noticed I have been gone from the Mugen scene for a while...Well good is News is I'm back. I have been slaving away in my robot laboratory working on some secret projects.  I have noticed that there hasn't been much work on Duo, Being that he was my first project there is a kinda fondness in my heart for this one.

So...My question to you guys and gals here at  IMT is what do you think of a Height adjustment to Duo?.

Here is a Picture of what I have in mind, there would only need to be a few adjustments here and there for projectiles and what not.

 Sad to say I have to start over with my Ballade WIP (I had my PC stolen from my apartment :'() as for Sheepman he is as he stands on the forums ( I downloaded my work from the Sheepman WIP and I'm Installing CS5 as we speak...um..as I write this... :thumbsup:)

The base of this sprite of Duo is from to Tron bone machine sprites sheets!!!

Well, considering that it's a fighting game, maybe he can be scaled down a bit to match the others, but that's only a matter of my own opinion, especially when characters in some fighting games come to mind, like Nemesis and Sentinel in UMvC3, or Tager in Blazblue. Also, a smaller base makes for easier work in general and maybe better quality at that. But overall like I said, it's all of my own opinion. :P

I got a suggestion from Gate on the Scruffy board with his suggestion for Duo, this is open source.  I think this Duo is too big, but I do like how he made Duo's boots and it is very nicely detailed.  The main bases are arm and torso of Tron Bonne then enlarged Megaman parts.

I'm not a fan of mini-Duo either, but the consensus seems to be it's fine because nobody wants to go back and make him the right scale. I'm certainly about to volunteer, so oh well.

At this point Duo is so far along it would make sense to finish him as he currently is.  Then if the size really bugs people we can come up with a size everyone agrees with and make the sprites taller at a later date.  Either we can get a volunteer to run through the finished sprite sheet to make him taller or I suppose I can even do it no one does.  I don't think it would be to hard, the legs and thighs would just need to be made a little taller.  But like I said I'm happy with Duo as he is right now.

finish one side first. This charcter has allot of potential.  Listen to members feed back. I agree with whats been said thus far.
