So heres the another X series character making an appearance in the MM game. Axl has been my wip for quit some time. Ive taken a break for a while but im back on the ball.

This character as of now is being sprited by Rage and Programed by Nester.


Intro - 2 out of 2
      
Win Pose - 2 out of 2

Taunt - none as of now

Special Attacks - 10/10          
      
Hyper Attacks - 3 out 4




So what's been done for sprites?  

100% of basics

100% of intros/ Wins

87% of Specials

95% of cleaning up and polishing Axl

I slowed work due to school and personal issues but now im a free agent

IDK this is my first character. I just want to keep a steady work flow so that way it should be the next few months you'll be a beta.

And for those who disprove of his look ocne he's made it to the beta stage i will be began 1 last final make over.  I will change his hair and boots to be more like the real deal. If you feel and other modifications need be made then please let me know.

Well good luck with the beta. I'm sure he will be great. Can't wait to see it. The only thing is see that needs fixing is his hair it need to be Spikey. Besides that Awesome work. :)

Need help with drawing the blur.  I dont really see/ understand how to create one. Im stuck on sprites that require this effect. I got the gun in the frame where im stuck. If anyone had some advice it would be very welcomed.

Are you talking about his normal stance or the first frame in the hit i posted?

His normal stance, the one shown in the video is a mixture of the command mission stance and lil of wat i thought up

that one. plz believe, im not knockin ya work Rage. the stance just threw me off. i was just curious if it came from the game or not cuz im not familiar with it or the char. more used to a upright or fighting stance. thats all.

thats a mixture of the stance in this video and a twist from me.

Axl with this stance will be a very close range physical fighter. His gun attacks will be most of his range.

OH AND TO EVERYONE PLEASE SAY WHAT EVER YOU LIKE GOOD OR BAD. SPIT IF YOU FEEL IT NECESSARY THEN BY ALL MEAN TRASH MY WIP. ITS AINT NO SWEAT OFF MY BACK. ALL I CAN DO IS TAKE THE COMMITS AND MAKE HIM AND MY SELF BETTER. SO PLEASE BRING IT ON. :)

Got a lot of work done on Axl these past few days cause my brother stole my Final fantasy 13 but its all for the best cause i got some work done on Axl ive  been avoiding doing for a year lol. Now that that is finally done and i wish i did it sooner instead of ditch cause it was fun as hell. Im about done with the basics and with start the special attacks very soon.

Small update so folks know where i am.


So what's been done ?

any one anyone have a clue how transforming/ shape-shifting can be achieved? I waited three years to see if i got the answer from a wip but that was a waste of time (tho that is a bad@$$ wip dont get me wrong.) its not the answer i was seeking.

The only way i can see it happening is to add other character file to him but that would make a his file too large. there is a the option of having do certain attacks only but thats not what i was looking for...........

There is a creator who made many Mortal Kombat bosses (I forgot his name). He created a MK1 Shang Tsung that does shapeshifting pretty well!

As a matter of fact, I think none of the creators of this project (Mega Man: Robot Master Mayhem) should work on a portrait like this for now...why? Because if you are trying to achieve a thing called unity all faces should be made by like 1 or 2 great face editors that have a similar shading style. Another thing is that I honestly think this project should have something unique when it comes down to game-art ;)

Na just playing. Yeah im using the weapons from MMX8 I spriting them all. I had them posted but the link is dead and im to lazy to find them or reupload them. I dont know if ill use all of them tho cause im having a tough time figuring out how to implement them all into Axl with out them being similar/ having different uses.

Cool weapons.  I actually just finished beating X7 for the first time last week so I'm quite famillar with axl now.  The Guns are very suiting and look great.  Now I'm going through X8 so far I like this one more.

I totally agree, I never want to play X7 Ever again! 
Now X8 is totally awesome, I haven't had much luck playing with with Axl, I have been using X and Zero this time around.  In X7 I used Zero and Axl the whole game.  Axl's weapons kicked butt.  I'm gonna beat X8 tonight if it kills me, I'm on what looks be be the final string of boss fights. 

Great looking weapons by the way.   :thumbsup:

You'll be able to follow up the Hard Kick with an aerial move.

  You mean the last sprites where hes holding the second gun? if so then dont worry this isnt the final design. If you look at the whole leg it looks like its broken  :P

Edit: Okay  o.O# I got cha now yeah i see what you mean. Ill see how i can fix that foot. it does still look like the front a lil.

here's the whole animation. Again still gotta fix that leg. This is going to be an attack were he use his laser gun it going to shoot though the opponent hit both if there are two fighters present. He steps into to give the technique so weakness.

Very nice, I like the cannon's animation a lot, sort of reminds me of Jill's grenade launcher move a bit.

well you got a video of it. the gun its self is a flamethrower but i dont want to use it into the tridisional way because it would be a straight forward projectal like his other to guns the laser and axl bullets.

Yeah IDk i could use it as an anti-air attack i guess so it aint shot in front of him like the other two weapon thats what one of my friend suggested.

the ice gun im having the same trouble with dont know what to do with ether of them.

For the ice gun, you can do it like Duke Nukem's minigun, where he pulls the gun, prepare to fire, then shots a stream of bullets until the gun overheats, and he must wait to use it again.

 i wanted to use all the guns  from X8 but i mite just omit the Spiral buster cause i dont want the attacks to all be the same with different effects.

Maybe a anti air  hyper for the Ice grappling. Axl shoots into the sky and giant Ice icicles come down hitting anyone in the air. I want to do what MDragoon said but its to me too much like his other attacks. i love that idea and the obvious chose of freezing like Subzero but dont ant it to be redundant. this hype is the only thing i can think of if folks dont feel it i will omit this gun too.

I think ill go with the anti air-flamethrower too. Axl will use it traditional but aim diagonal.

look what i found on capcoms forum. so guy said he couldnt find any Axl spites  so he drew this instead and the pallets. Now i know there aint next no Axl sprites out there but there are some. Next the stance he made for axl is officially-familiar. My stance was custom and not a ordinary fighting stance.  Also the hair is similar to the old style i had for him b4 i changed it to look more  official. Lastly my Axl has a jacked up hand and gun cause im lazy and dont intend on fixing it . . . .  and wait so does his. i dont know maybe its a coincident.  8=|      :DxDie

I remember i came to you about Axl a few years back. I got plenty of idea's for him but i havent done anything for is copy ability beyond that intro. If you have ideas, suggestions, etc. :-" hit me up.

As of now Axl and Quint are on hold as far as spriting is concerned. The screen on my laptop went out. Its sapposed to be fixed in the next few days but we all know how that goes.

Yeah, I remember that. I was making an Axl too, but I stopped it. Maybe I will work with DanielCozer on his Axl, or I can help you, but I dunno, because I want to make something very different.

First post Updated. Axl is at 70%. If i could  think of some win poses he'd be at beta ready stage.

Now im working on the Lumine Armor special. Need to brain storm on that.

yeah I know it just this is the last step b4 i start test lol

I just beat X8 for the first time. I beat it with out using any E or W tanks too. I beat it with X but Axl was kicking these bosses butts. I dont know why Axl is over looked/ has a bad rap. If it wasnt for him i wouldnt have won.

wow you sure do ask a lot of questions. lol Like that; im the same way. Since im done with everything needed for a beta ready character im going back and redoing things like the jump animation. Im also decided which guns are going to be used for aerial attacks. Im doing those now. Its a really quick process cause i have all the sprites needed for em already just need to piece and place them in the right places. Lastly ill finish the freeze, burn, electro,  and dizzy sprites i started awhile back.

Might do a pallet helper for a hyper but that would be last like the Lumine.

Take as long as necessary to get this bad boy tweaked.  In the meantime, if you need help coming up with ideas for a lumine hyper, I'll help you out.  Maybe he could grow wings from Lumine's Seraph form, and this could either act like a power-up form for Axl in a way that Rush Booster and Bass Booster did for the Megaman and Bass characters, or have him pull off Seraph Lumine's Overdrive move, "Paradise Lost".  How it works is that Lumine would cover up himself using his wings, and would make the screen turn dark.  If you didn't break through his wings quick enough, the move would kill you instantly.  I'm not sure if Axl would need to defend himself for the hyper and force the other player to mash a certain button to break through the hyper in order to avoid a KO, or if he could just pull off the hyper without all the button mashing.  Hope these help!

I want to add wings to him b4 i even started the character. I made this a few years back.

But at the time the only thing i could think of was a Axl flying with wings, stronger attack and defense. Which is lame and the idea of a hyper that cause a hyper mode been done to def.

Now the Lost Paradise technique OMG  :o  I love it. It would go perfect with the type of character Axl is turning out to be. THANK YOU!!!

this is what i want to aim for; Its will be a level 3 Desperation technique, access able only when Axl health is low , second or third match. Its will kill the opponent if he's not defeated in a certain time as well.

Ill discuss this with Nestor and c what can become of this.

i wanted to do regular transformation

here so thing i find at suffy.

-p1 send p2 to a custom state
-p1 go to a invisible anim
-at sametime p2 call a explod wih some attack anim, 200 or 210 or 220...
- invisible p1 should hit p2
-to cancle p1 invisibility state i use enemynear,numexplod(id of attack explod)=0

but this code is faulty with making copies. So i went to the source Elecbyte. they said transformation on the level of shang tsung inst possible due to insufficient memory. This is the reason behind characters such as morph and mystique cant shapshift.

So with this will Axl transform? Yeah i plan on doing it the old way but Im not working on that now. That will be the vary last thing incorporated into Axl. I will probably start a thread asking who people want to see in Axl but that will be limited to hypers. I like that MD idea S. Mew

I would suggest maybe 2-4 hypers, where he turns into one of the popular Mavericks.

That way you dont bog your self down with allot of transforms.

Havent posted anything new in some time so i guess ill show a lil something small.

Axl's update stance. I polished the sprites and changed the animation a lil.

So heres the news on the completion of Axl Sprites. Everything is finished expect the new dodge sprite and one hyper that i cant work on until the game MMRM is in its final stages b4 its first release. I need to complete the dodge and i can send off the last set of sprites and im done with Axl until then.

The Stage two in my sig area has to do with me going back and polishing or Redoing Axls sprites. Im removing it from my sig area. but it will be posted on the front page when i update it seeing as it doesn't state Axls real completion rate.  Axl is really at 94.5%

Sorry no new updates. I'm at work bored so I figured I'd spam my own thread. Did you know that is that this my second time completing axl? When I first started him I did him by hand. I completed him in one nite. mind you at the time I didn't know everything that goes into a mugen character. I did over a thousand drawings. but when I tryed to upload and color it I noticed it would be to much work editing it for mugen. I used that work for a class project instead. Many of the things I envisioned wouldn't work in mugen. or better said they were above my skill set at the time.  Bummed I took six month off from mugen. When I came back I started anew. And now its three years later.

Ya I cant say its easy to make a stance, its the hardest animation, cuz its there all the time happening x)

My style of sprite is different but I can try to make a Axl stance later.

not bad. i see you used my legs. I really like the detail in ur Axl. This makes me want put my other wip's on hold and proceed with phase 2 of Axl. the only problem i see is that gun. Thats not my sprite. So i can give permission to use it.

You got so serious skill. I would have loved your help a few years back when i first start this character. But a lass im finish with Axl. I got one move left to complete and it depends on the other characters/ creator in the MRMM project. thanx tho :)

Start you own Axl along with your Zero. it be cool to have another one on the horizon. If your talented create a duel character. Not to many of those around and there are no megaman characters like that.

Take ur time. Spriting is totally different then hand drawing. its a slow and delicate process. if only i could sprite as fast as i can draw by hand. ive done evey character in the X series and then some. Mmmm ideal maybe i should invest in a wacom tablet :(|)

Haha the actual X on this project looks a great fail, X should not use sabre, break the spirit of Megaman gameplay. My X will just use the Sabre Slash that is a secret on Megaman x3 : p

And if you want, Rage, to be my Axl programmer cuz my art is spriting/animating  not so programming :p

UP LATE (sorry for caps) f'ing around in photoshop. Ive come a long way since i first started Axl. Ive change him way too much and probably made enough sprites to make Axl 2 or 3 times now lol Im going to keep the face from current model. finally gave Axl his own face instead of a deformed megaman face.  The Body IDK. I havent started with the respriting of Axl but if i go with the current look. i will have a late of work a head of me.....

Thanx good sir. i think its all right. I pushed it all most as far as i could using megaman as a soild base. I would like to push him harder but im afraid that would require me to do a lot of completely custom work and some Frankenstein mostly just the legs. Thus rendering older version of Axl useless.  i couldn't really us any of the sprites except as reference. Its only so mush detail you can fit in that tiny megaman frame.  :(

If the problem for adding more details is the frame, perhaps once my Megaman X is finished, you could revamp your Axl as a unique edit of my X. Then you'd have a better frame for details and such.

Thanks all for your enthusiasm. As i stated b4 Axl is finish.  he's currenty being coded. that last design is final design. only height adjustments to scale him to x and zero's  size will be made. That will be a new be a 2.0 version. Its will have some new basics, attacks, and will be based on a kept away game play style. I want to give Axl the same treatment as Quint. Iwill  start the 2.0 when i get a new laptop. Im locking this thread to prevent any farther bumping.
